I found a new fic that would've normally fallen under my radar because of its most prominent warning: mpreg
now, I've always hated mpreg. seriously, I cannot for the life of me read mpreg stories. of all the possible kinks out there this is the weirdest shit ever to me. (don't get me wrong, if you like mpreg, that's fine. everyone likes different things, lol)
but this particular story is nothing like the usual mpreg stuff. no crack, no nothing. it takes the topic to a whole new level and I love it.No Man's Land
(Jim/Bones) written by gone_ashore
summary: A mission gone wrong puts Jim at the wrong end of alien observation, captive to a species that uses him as a lab rat. Helpless and defenseless for nearly a week, the Antosians break him down physically and mentally. After his rescue, he slowly starts to recover, until one unrealized part of the Antosians' handiwork turns his life upside down. and threatens to destroy him.
this whole fic is so serious and angsty and has everything I need and love in a good fanfic. also the author's comment is what really made me read it:This might surprise you, but neither of the authors particularly like most mpreg. So, why are we writing it? Because we wanted to turn the trope on its head. This is a subtle, complex look at the physical and psychological ramifications of forced pregnancy on a male through biomedical experimentation. The characters are not throwing a baby shower.
you guys, this story is fantastic. it blew my mind. you should definitely read it, if you're not doing that already.
